Good for the body.
Good for the brain.
Good for the soul.
Come and join us - age is no barrier.
There has been a fencing club in Penzance for many decades. For a time the club fenced at the YMCA, before eventually folding in the early 1990s.
A new club was formed by former members in 1995 based at Ludgvan School.
Ludgvan Fencing Club then moved to Mounts Bay School and then to Humphry Davy School, where the name changed to Penzance Fencing Club.
We fence at Humphry Davy School in the mains sports hall, 7 to 9.30 every Monday evening.

We have five experienced coaches for foil, epee, and sabre.
All have competition experience.
One to one and group coaching sessions are available on most club nights.
Occasionally we run short beginner courses over four or six weeks, and these are publicised well in advance.
We offer a free taster session for new members, where we introduce the safety rules, kit, and basic moves for attack and defence.
We prepare fencers for competitions in all age groups.
Club membership fees are paid monthly by direct debit.
Membership gives fencers access to as many fencing sessions as the club organises.
Current fees are:
Adults (over 16) £20 a month
Cadet/student (12 - 15) £15 a month
Junior (9 - 11) £10 a month

The club has plenty of kit to get fencers started.
For your first session, wear training shoes with non-marking soles, a t-shirt, tracksuit bottoms, and bring something to drink to keep hydrated - it can get very warm inside the kit.
We can lend you the rest of the kit for the evening.
Over time fencers start to buy their own kit and weapons.
However, before you buy, check with one of the coaches: there are safety rules for equipment.
